Well, I finally saw the VMA’s a few days ago…. I know, I know, I’m a bit late… our cable was out for a while. Anyway, I didn’t see it in its entirety; I saw some special version of it that just showed the performances, which is all I really wanted to see anyway. I have to say, I wasn’t impressed. I mean yes they tried to mix it up a bit, having the performances in different locations and all the special effects, but I just felt like… what was the point? Personally, if I were actually at the show I would have been pissed that I had to watch half the performances from a screen and to me it just kind of took the essence out of it (haha… if that makes any sense). Honestly, my favorite performance was Paramore, because it was just REAL! It was at a different location, (which again, what was the point?) but besides that is was just a simple, raw performance, without all the hoopla. Just them on a stage, with their instruments, and they Killed It! What happened to just getting on stage and doing your thang, why do we need the smoke and mirrors and all this other crap all the time? Now I’m not going to lie, its cool sometimes, a few special effects here and there, but I think MTV went a little to far this year with the production of some of the performances, like Pink. I really just didn’t care for Pinks performance at all, I’m not sure why, but it just did nothing for me.

Besides all that, I was just a little bored with most of them. I was really disappointed with Katy Perry; the girl doesn’t know how to move. They need to get her a stagecoach and I know she didn’t do an all out performance, but still it was a bit sad. Maybe I just expected too much from her, I don’t know. And Christina Aguilera, now that’s my girl, I will defend her all day, any day… but I just wasn’t that into it. First, I’m not that crazy about the song; second, I get that they were trying something new, (well kinda, it kind of took you back to the dirty days) but it seemed like they really didn’t know what they were trying to do. Also, at the beginning of the performance I felt like I was watching Britney… and I‘m not talking about current Britney, I’m talking old Britney, back during the I’m A Slave For You days. It was just kind of freaky. Anyway, Lil Wayne was good, Rihanna just bugs the crap out of me, I did enjoy LL Cool J (I miss that man), and the rest were whatever or okay. Maybe I’m being a bit too critical, but music is my love and I tend to be more critical then most about certain things in this industry… I can’t help it.
